Screening the award-winning documentary 'The Territory' at the Faculty of Education.

This was an incredible conversation after watching 'The Territory' together. This time, we welcomed people from other departments and various nationalities into the debate. Our group is growing!

A lifelong friendship. Carina is such an inspirational woman!

Cambridge is a place where I keep meeting incredibly special people who I might not otherwise have the opportunity to connect with.
To the best of my knowledge, Carina Oliveira Silva, also known as Carina 'Pataxó,' is the first Brazilian Indigenous scholar to visit the Faculty of Education. She is here through the Abdias Nascimento exchange programme and currently pursuing her PhD at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
I invited her to speak at the opening of our third CLAREC Cinema Session, where we screened The Territory (2022). This transnational production explores the land invasion and violence faced by the Uru-eu-wau-wau people of the Amazon.
As always, our screening was followed by deep and meaningful conversations, this time focused on Indigenous struggles.
