After a turbulent year of the pandemic, I received today the report from the Independent Examining Committee of the Centre for Latin American Studies at the University of Cambridge, approving and evaluating my master’s dissertation entitled Mothers and Daughters: intertwined memories, healing trauma and the rupture with paid domestic work in Brazil. I passed my master’s with a 'high pass,' which means a lot to me, as I had to interrupt my studies when the lockdowns began, as a parent student, while busy homeschooling my two children and looking after everyone's wellbeing and mental health.
