Big smiles! Michael and myself after his talk at the Faculty of Education. - 11 November, 2024

A ray of sunshine—that is how I see Professor Michael Burawoy, whom I first met through my lovely PhD supervisor, Dr. Kathryn Moeller, at the CIES conference in Miami this year. He gave a talk today at the Faculty of Education titled Exiting Settler Colonialism: Palestine/Israel Through a South African Lens, as part of the Anti-Racism in Education programme at Cambridge, coordinated by Kathryn and Brazilian universities.I was lucky enough to have him attend our conference panel in Miami and also read my book. His feedback on my research and his words of encouragement have been a driving force in my call to embrace public sociology!

Public Sociology, book by Michael Burawoy

The heavy cost of liberation is less than the price of continued repression. Quote by Michael Burowoy.
