Transnational Conversations - 'AmarElo, It's All for Yesterday'

So happy to have Lucas Tavares, a visiting scholar from Brazil, introduce the film to the group and share his experience using it in classrooms back in Brazil.

Popcorn and a lovely group of people at the screening of AmarElo: It's All for Yesterday.

Transnational conversations following the screening of the Brazilian film AmarElo – It's All for Yesterday. Wonderful to see our group expanding, with non-Brazilians joining in as well.

We finally captured a group photo to mark our gatherings, brought together through cinema.

What a wonderful second CLAREC Cinema Sessions + Conversations at the Faculty of Education! This time, we transitioned from an English film to a Brazilian one, AmarElo – It's All for Yesterday, which celebrates Black history and culture. The film sparked impactful conversations within our group, including the addition of some new and familiar faces, and notably, participants who are not Brazilian.
We continue to foster transnational and multilingual dialogues, supporting those less proficient in English with informal real-time translations. This approach ensures that the conversation remains accessible and dynamic, allowing everyone to engage meaningfully. A truly enriching – and emotional – experience!
