CLAREC Cinema Sessions + Conversations Screening 'The Territory' (2022)

📣 Join us for transnational conversations, convened by PhD candidate Anna Maria Del Fiorentino, at our final CLAREC Cinema Sessions + Conversations of the year, featuring a screening of The Territory (2022), a powerful film about the Amazon’s Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people and their fight against deforestation by farmers and illegal settlers.

🌱 Carina Oliveira Silva, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the first Brazilian Indigenous visiting scholar at the Faculty of Education, will be our special guest to introduce the film.

Following the screening, we’ll engage in discussions featuring a very special guest, if all goes well, Neidinha Bandeira, who will join us online from Brazil. Neidinha is featured in the film and is an environmental and human rights activist, as well as the leader and co-founder of the nonprofit Kandidé Ethno-Environmental Defense Association.
